US PVC export prices dropped $20/mt amid slow tradingactivity. The spot price was assessed at either side of $970/mtFAS Houston. Buying interest from India was reported at near$1,060-1,070/mt CFR letter of credit at site. Sources said thebuying appetite from India was attributed to supply tightness inthat country and also due to a need to build inventories for thepost-monsoon season. Meanwhile, bids from Turkey were talkedaround $1,040-1050/mt CFR Istanbul. However, no deals werereported at the close of the market. Traders said demand fromChina was expected to still be absent as Formosa PlasticsTaiwan’s 720,000 mt/year vinyl chloride monomer unit inMailiao was anticipated to restart operations this week.
