Butadiene contract prices in Brazil for March climbed 5% over February following the 5 cents/lb increase in the USGC, said a Braskem source. After the increase, March butadiene contract prices were heard around $2,121/mt FOB. Butadiene demand in the Brazilian domestic market was strenthening and sources expected the trend to continue. March monomer demand from Brazil was reduced by 2,000 mt in March since the two Braskem crackers in Bahia state went on an emergency shutdown due a city blackout on February 3. This week the crackers were back online working at 70% load.
