Mexican officials target new area for LNG plants

Houston-With three LNG receiving terminals under development in northern and western Mexico,energy officials in that country are looking hard at the longer-term potential for additional facilities to bring natural gas to the more remote southeast.The Pacific port of Salina Cruz in the state of Oaxaca and one of three possible sites on the Yucatan peninsula are both target areas for LNG imports that would take gas to under-served regions,Enrique Portes,director-natural gas for Mexico's energy ministry,said during a presentation at the "Mexican Energy 2004" conference.
