The recent lease sale held by the state of Alabama signals a heightened interest in shallow natural gas deposits near the shoreline.Bidding companies are targeting shallow,Miocene Age reserviors rather than the older,deeper Deep Norphlet resources which are part of the Jurassic Age of 200-mil years,said Bob Mink,deputy director of the Geological Survey of Alabama.
