South32 to maintain steady Australian Mn ore output next 2 years

Amid a post-tax loss of $1.6billion for fiscal 2015-2016, July to June, Australia’sSouth32 plans to maintain its annualproduction of manganese ore at the 2016level in the next two years.It posted a year-on-year rise in saleablemanganese ore of 4% to 3.1 million wmt in2016. Despite recently completing theexpansion of its GEMCO mine to a capacityof 5.3 million wmt/year in June, it plans tokeep production flat in 2017 and 2018.
