The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission late Wednesday approved Freeport LNG’s plans to build an LNG export facility on Quintana Island, Texas, after it adopted staff’s recommenda- tions for a number of environmental mitigation steps. “We concur with the findings set forth in the June 2014 final environmental impact statement, which concludes that construction and operation of the projects, while resulting in some significant and unavoidable impacts to residents of the Town of Quintana due to construction noise and traffic, will be temporary, and minimized with certain conditions set forth in this order,” FERC said.
