Though both government-mandated energy position limits and mandatory clearing of over-the-counter swap trades are looming, a parade of presenters Tuesday at an industry conference indicated there still is no consensus or conventional wisdom on how the rules will affect the futures industry. With the proposed Commodity Futures Trading Commission rule still open for comments, and financial regulations still a work in progress in Congress, a repeated theme at the Futures Industry Association's Clearing 2010 forum was that there is still too much uncertainty for anybody to know precisely what will develop.
