Genetic Diversity of Cryphonectria parasitica Population in the Stiavnicko-Krupinska Subpopulation in Slovakia

The structure of Cryphonectria parasitica populations was evaluated in the Stiavnicko-krupinska subpopulation in Slovakia. Among 215 isolates, four vegetative compatibility groups (vcg) were detected that correspond to the European vc groups EU-12, EU-2, EU-13 and EU-8. The number of vcg at single sites varied between one and four. One vc group (EU-12) predominated in the Stiavnicko-krupinska subpopulation; it comprised 93% of all isolates and was found at each site. Two vcg were represented by onlyone or two isolates. The observed vcg frequencies were compared with expected vcg frequencies. The x2 test showed that the observed vcg frequencies differed significantly from the frequencies expected under random mating.
