Scientists at the Univ. of Illinois have developed a simple and highly sensitive colorimetric sensor for the detection of a high-powered explosive.Triacetone triperoxide (TATP) is one of the most dangerous primary explosives, and it has no practical engineering or military use. Its readily available components and ease of preparation have contributed to its use in bombs associated with major attempted terrorist attacks in the last decade.
