Reaction of corn hybrids to northern corn leaf blight and southern rust in San Patricio County, Texas, 2007

The experiment was conducted in a commercial field in San Patricio County, near Mathis. The hybrids were planted 22 Feb in a Victoria clay. Each replicate consisted of two, 26 ft rows, with a 30-in. row spacing and a mean plant population of 26,675 plants/A. There were four replicates per treatment arranged in a randomized complete block design. The experiment was irrigated with a center pivot system. Disease was assessed on 20 Jun by estimating the percentage of the leaf attached to the ear covered by the pathogen and averaging this for 4 plants per replicate. The plots were harvested 15 Aug with a JD 3300 plot combine. Data were subjected to an analysis of variance and mean separation.
