Most engineers (at least those in the Northern Hemisphere) are unlikely to have snow skiing on their minds as they read this July issue of CEP.Peter Styring,professor of chemical engineering and chemistry at the Univ.of Sheffield,U.K.,is one of the few who does.Snow is on his mind year-round - specifically how to make skis and snowboards go faster,which is part of a discipline referred to as "snow sports engineering."
