The Asphalt Pavement Alliance (APA), an industry coalition of the Asphalt Institute, the National Asphalt Pavement Association and state asphalt pavement associations, is accepting nominations for its newly created Perpetual Pavement Award. The award identifies and honors asphalt highways, streets, airport runways and other pavements that have lasted 35 years or longer and are still providing service.APA defines perpetual pavement as structure that was designed and built to eliminate structural failure and minimize surface rutting. Such a structure typically features a multi-layer design that can last 50 or more years with only periodic surface renewal"
