A MineStar is born

Caterpillar has formed Caterpillar MineStar Solutions (www.cat.com/minestar) - a new division of Global Mining that will serve the mining information systems needs of mining operations worldwide. The new organization will develop, market and support the MineStar suite of products, including production and operations management software as well as systems on board mining machines. Such systems include the Computer Aided Earthmoving System (CAES) and Aquila drill management systems. The new enterprise streamlines and focuses Caterpillar's work on mining information technology. To form Caterpillar MineStar Solutions, Caterpillar has combined the Mining and Earth-moving Technology Systems (METS) group with the acquired assets of two leading mining technology companies. The two companies - Aquila and Mincom - previously worked in alliance with METS during the development and commercialization of the MineStar products.
