PDO: a committment to HEALTH AND SAFETY

With more than 90 per cent of PDO's activities externally managed, contractors present a huge area of risk in terms of lost time. Therefore, PDO's HSE places significant emphasis on engaging competent contractors at the initial stage and on consistent performance monitoring. This has been very successful, as shown by the HSE performance of its contractors. For example, Special Technical Services achieved a 23 million man-hour life-threatening incident (LTI)-free record during a five-year Engineering and Maintenance Contract for PDO. Similarly, another contractor, Al Hassan Engineering Co, achieved a LTI-free record of 0.13 in 2010.
