Wie ist das Verhältnis zwischen Populismus und Uli— beralismus? Zurückgreifend auf die Populismus-Theorie Ernesto Laclaus und die Agonismus-Theorie Chantal Mouffes wird versucht, den illiberalen Populismus als eine Spielart des Populismus aufzufassen, die spiegelbildlich zur neoliberalen „Post-Politik" die liberale unter die demokratische Logik unterordnet. Dies wird an aktuellen Beispielen aus West- und Ostmitteleuropa in Bezug auf eine bestimmte Haltung zu Grundrechten und zu den Institutionen der liberalen Demokratie aufgezeigt. What is the relationship between populism and illiberalism? Drawing on Ernesto Laclau's theory of populism and Chantal Mouffe's theory of agonism, the attempt will be made to conceptualize illiberal populism as one variant of populism that, as a mirror image to neo-liberal "post-politics", subordinates the liberal logic under the democratic one. This is shown, using examples from Western and East-Central Europe, in terms of a particular stance toward basic rights and the institutions of liberal democracy.
