摘要

President Bush has asked Congress to approve a $2.23 trillion spending plan for the next fiscal year that includes $4.19 billion for the civil works program of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, $6.7 billion for the U.S. Coast Guard, $54.3 billion for the Department of Transportation and $36.2 billion for the new Department of Homeland Security. Speaking at a budget briefing in Washington, D.C., Feb. 3, Les Brownlee, acting assistant secretary of the army (Civil Works), said the proposed budget for FY 2004 continues the Corps' "focus on prioritizing funds to complete or make significant progress on ongoing work to provide the highest value to the nation."
