China and Intermodalism

China is the 800 pound gorilla of global trade, and rightly so. With a population of 1.3 billion and a labor force of 798 million according to the CIA World Fact Book, it must continuously strive to join the modern world. Indeed, it has experienced a ten-fold increase in Gross Domestic Product since 1978, to the point where it is second only to the United States.
