Work resumes on gas tunnel

Tunnel boring machine Fionnuala has resumed work on the US$91.4 million tunnel that will bring natural gas to the Corrib Gas refinery at Bellanaboy in north Mayo, Ireland. On September 8, German worker Lars Wagner (26) died after sustaining a head injury when a valve burst inside the TBM. The project was immediately suspended, with the tunnelling teams put on paid leave, and Ireland's police and Health and Safety Authority began separate investigations.
