This digest provides a compilation of short reports on two categories of air-to-air missiles: legacy systems which may still be in service but are no longer in production, and future programs which are under discussion but have not yet received enough funding to merit a full report. The Missile Defense Agency has had an on-again, off-again effort to examine air-launched missile for anti-missile roles. Raytheon was funded to examine a boost-phase anti-ballistic missile variant of the AIM-120 AMRAAM called NCADE (Networkcentric Airborne Defense Element). The first test launch was conducted on 3 December 2007 and 20 NCADEs are being delivered to MDA for further tests.
