Technology to learn from the past

The 20th century may be remembered as the century of plastic but there is no doubt that the previous 70 centuries, at a minimum, were all centuries of leather. As a result we have a cornucopia of valuable items to conserve, from parchments such as the Dead Sea scrolls and the Magna Carta, Roman sandals, drinking vessels, coracles, wall hangings, horse furniture, armour, gloves and gauntlets.
