Korean Patent Act, Utility Model Act Are Revised

On January 30, 2009, a number of significant amendments to the Korean Patent Act ("KPA") and the Korean Utility Model Act ("KUMA") were promulgated. Most of the revisions are due to go into effect on July 1, 2009, but some of the provisions have been effective as of the promulgation date. Salient features of the revisions are highlighted below.
