A survey conducted in Brazil by the Ipsos Institute found that 48% of the persons interviewed over the age of 16 had purchased at least one falsified product this year. The survey was taken in November at the request of the Rio de Janeiro State Federation of Commerce and showed an increase in the purchases of pirated goods since 2006 when in a similar survey 42 percent of the respondents admitted to having made a purchase that year.
