The Presidium of the Russian Supreme Arbitration Court has delivered its judgment in a case involving a trademark dispute between McDonald's and a small local company, barring the US fast food giant from using its trademark. In Ruling No. VAS-16577/11, dated April 17, 2012, the Presidium gave its decision on Case No. A40-2569/11-2722. In 2011, LINA, a Russian food company based in Ryazan, central Russia, filed a lawsuit seeking RUB1 million (US$33,800) in damages from McDonald's for the alleged illegal use of its trademark, "S Puly, S Zharu" ("Piping Hot").
