New rules to combat online violations of intellectual property rights were issued on June 23 by the Russian agency overseeing that country's mass media, technology and telecommunications. The Federal Service for Oversight of Communications, Information Technology and Mass Media - also known by its Russian acronym, Roscomnadzor - issued an order to approve procedures for copyright holders to protect their content from illegal downloads. Roscomnadzor also approved a new form for requests to the agency to block websites offering pirated content.
