EU Sounds Sweet Note for Joint Venture's Cross-Border Licensing of Online Music

After an in-depth investigation by its staff, the European Commission on June 16 authorized three music collecting societies to create a joint venture for multi-territorial online music licensing and copyright administration services. The three parlies to the proposed venture are: 1. PRS for Music Limited (PRSfM), of the U.K.; 2. Foreningen Svenska Tonsattares Internationella Musikbyra u.p.a. (STIM), of Sweden; and 3. Gesellschaft fur musikalische Auffuhrungs- und mechanische Vervielfaltigungsrechte (GEMA), of Germany.
