U.S. Entities File Almost Half Australia's 2015 Standard Patent Applications

Almost half of the standard patent applications received by Australia in 2015 came from the U.S., an Australian government report released April 14 said. The report on intellectual property trends also showed that, from 2011 to 2015, Halliburton Energy was the top patent applicant, followed by Samsung and medical products company Covidien, which was acquired by Medtronic in 2015. IP Australia received 28,605 standard patent applications in 2015, 13,781 of which came from the U.S., the report said.
