U.K. Should Stay in EU Trademark System Post-Brexit, Attorneys Urge

The United Kingdom should stay in the European Union's trademark and design rights systems after it leaves the bloc, the group responsible for regulating U.K. trademark attorneys said. The U.K. could only stay within the systems through a bilateral agreement with the EU. That would require a bilateral agreement between the U.K. and EU. Otherwise, the U.K. should automatically convert all EU Trademarks and Registered Community Designs into registered national rights, the Chartered Institute of Trade Mark Attorneys (CITMA) said in its a position paper released July 20.
