There is concern being expressed in the UK over the safety of 'smart' motorways featuring all-lane running. The AA motoring body has been particularly vocal in its criticism of smart motorways. The idea of smart motorways is simple and has developed from a number of basic facts. But there is restricted funding available to build new highway lanes and proposed widening projects also face greater environmental hurdles.
