A Russian professor, who pioneered an approach to make roads more durable, is hoping that more highway authorities will take up the system. It is now 10 years since road engineer Professor Mark P. Bolshtyanskiy put forward his Track Reinforcing of the Road Pavement (TRRP) proposal, which he claimed could reduce the cost of roadbuilding and road maintenance by 10% or more.
