Plant-based foods and meat analogs are proliferating across the ready meals category, far beyond the traditional soy burger. Now consumers can find substitutes for fish, chicken nuggets, chorizo and stewed "meat." For example, Plant Kitchen Tofish and Chips by Marks & Spencer puts a veggie twist on the famously English fish and chips. Garden Gourmet has come out with its 100% plant-based Incredible Chorizo which carries a "source of fiber" claim and scores a B on the nutri-score scale. Veggie Nuggets, also by Garden Gourmet, is made of tomato, red beet and red pepper, making use of real, whole vegetables with naturally bright colors. Cereal Bio has also launched plant-based foods that can serve as meat substitutes but do not mimic meat. The bulgur burgers are made with either blue cheese and figs or Parmesan cheese and sun-dried tomatoes.
