The worrying state of deterioration of the reinforced concrete slab of Pouzin Bridge (Warren girder bridge crossing the Rhone south of Valence) led the local economic players and politicians to give priority to a repair solution involving complete reconstruction. In order to minimise the impact on traffic and on the region's economic activity, engineering work was performed over several months and several projects were produced, leading to a contract award to the GTM-Lassarat-Bonnard consortium upon a restricted invitation to tender and on the basis of an optimised schedule of 3.5 months' complete closure instead of the 8 months planned. Major preparation work and organisation of the project as a whole into various successive tasks enabled the contractors to demolish entirely and then reconstruct the reinforced concrete slab, connected to the steel structure, and to repaint the entire structure, thus succeeding in meeting deadlines.
