The Wool Exchange's Australian Eastern Market Indicator (EMI) eased by 5 cents (0.7%), to finish on 725 Australian cents/kg clean on February 19. In US currency, the market declined by 14 cents (2.9%), with the Australian dollar moving 1.49 cents down, compared to the previous selling week on February 10-13, to 64.31 US cents. In euros, the market posted a 2 cent drop (0.5%). A lack of demand did little to stimulate competition despite a weakened exchange rate, which depreciated by 1.88 US cents from February 12-18 before lifting slightly on February 19. Both the Northern and Southern Regional indicators drew back during the sales, recording falls of 6 and 5 cents respectively.
