The Italian worsted spinner Safil has published its 2014 Sustainability Report, and has claimed to be the first Italian spinner to produce such a report. The company, which is based in Biella and also has facilities in Bulgaria, said that its 2014 Sustainability Report is designed to describe the company and its history, values and identity, and to explain how its choices try to balance economic aspects with those of an environmental and social nature. The report includes data relating to Safil's actions concerning corporate governance, the creation of added value, and environmental and social issues. "These aspects, which are only marginally highlighted in the balance sheet, are nonetheless essential to explain to all our internal and external stakeholders, the principles on which Safil founded its past and intends building its future," said the company, adding that it decided to publish the report due to "the market's ever-greater awareness of the interdependence between economic, environmental and social matters in business, combined with the need for greater transparency by companies with regard to their business model."
