India facing uphill battle to increase global market share

While Covid-19 initially appeared very distant for India, it became a real danger on its doorstep within a few weeks of the outbreak in China, and has since engulfed the whole nation as a full-blown crisis with an unprecedented impact on the country's health and economy.On 30 January, the first coronavirus case was confirmed in India. By early March, it had become a global pandemic and the Indian government enforced international and domestic travel cuts and advised caution to all its citizens, even though the spread was limited. In the second week of March, the government decided to close its international borders, and by the third week of the month a national lockdown was enforced until at least 15 April. This was then extended until 31 May and was the biggest lockdown globally.
