Lenzing aims to become world's first carbon neutral fibre producer

Cellulose fibres giant the Lenzing Group has announced plans to drastically reduce its CO_2 footprint. The Austria-based company has set a net-zero CO_2 emissions target for 2050 and will invest €100m over the coming years to reduce carbon emissions both inside its operational boundaries (scope 1+2) and in its supply chain (scope 3). A first milestone is set for 2030, by when Lenzing plans to reduce CO_2 emissions per ton of product by almost 50% (scope 1+2 and 3) compared to a 2017 baseline. The total CO_2 reduction of all the planned initiatives will be around 1.3 million tons (Mt), according to the company.
