To plank the bottom, scarf together two sheets of plywood, and rip them in half longitudinally. Clamp one side along the centerline, and mark for your cuts along the chine logs and motorwell. Crawl under the boat and trace around the floor timbers, the inboard sides of the chine logs, and the keel. You will need to trim off some of the plywood's forward edge in order for it to meet the centerline (which it should along its entire length). Mark the plywood for the other bottom panel in the same manner. Don't hang the first panel before you mark the second, as you will have nothing to clamp to. Using the marks for floor timbers, chine, and keel, drill clearance holes for your fastenings from the inside. Mix some thickened epoxy and butter the keel, floor timbers, and chine. Drill and countersink for 3/4″, 12-gauge bronze ring nails. When you have the first bottom panel nailed down, clean up the excess epoxy and fasten the second.
