B.C.'s oldest sailing yacht to be restored

While still basking in the glow of the successful relaunch of John Guzz-well's TREKKA, the Maritime Museum of British Columbia in Victoria has been quietly moving forward on a vessel restoration project of equal if not greater significance. She's no circumnavigator like TREKKA, but the fantail cutter DOROTHY enjoys her own superlative fame. At 109 years old, she is the oldest known sailing yacht in British Columbia, and one of the oldest surviving Canadian-built sailing yachts in the country. Incredibly, DOROTHY has been registered at the same home port since she was launched in Victoria's Inner Harbour in 1897.
