A Note on the Photo Boats

Benjamin Mendlowitz has his own 20' Albury-built photo boat, ABACO, from which to shoot, and he and the boat are a familiar sight around Penobscot Bay. In other waters, though, some of the shooting platforms would surprise you, as they have us at times. They've ranged from a 10' outboard-powered rubber ducky from which a great shot of the cutter CHRISTMAS was taken, to a 65' patrol boat of the Dutch coast guard that we were provided (uniformed crew standing by with silver tea service) to chase and photograph the brighthulled Statenjacht under sail.
