Robert T. Feerst of Millbrook, Alabama, is looking for information about a Boy Scout boat from the 1930s. "This pulling boat, I understand, was obtained by the Boy Scouts of America from the U.S. Navy. In the late 1930s it was converted to a schooner and given to the Sea Scouts and was called SHIP 3 in St. Petersburg, Florida. I sailed on it in Tampa Bay and the Gulf of Mexico from 1939 until 1942, when I joined the Army. The Sea Scout SHIP 3 was sponsored by the Optimist Club of St. Petersburg. We berthed the NARWHALE at the Vinoy Yacht Basin in St. Pete. Our clubhouse was a small building next to the Solarium.
