U.S. - French Interoperability Over Horn of Africa

The U.S. Marine Corps demonstrated joint capabilities with the French Air Force in operations over the Horn of Africa, on May 24,2021. Marine Aerial Refueler Transport Squadron 234 (VMGR-234) and French Fighter Squadron 3/11 conducted joint training designed to enable both forces to benefit from the other's unique capabilities. "The opportunity to work and train alongside our French partners in Djibouti builds readiness across both forces and enhances interoperability," said U.S. Army Colonel Jennifer Mykins, Director of Operations for Combined Joint Task Force -Horn of Africa (CJTF-HOA). "It shows our shared commitment to stability in the region, ultimately exhibiting the importance of how, as partners, we are stronger together." A KC-130J Super Hercules, flown by the Marines, completed aerial refueling for French Mirage 2000-5 fighters.
