Michigan companies make push forward

Action is picking up again in Michigan. Consumers Energy, a major utility in the state, is to buy 56 Vestas 1.8MW turbines for the company's 101MW Lake Winds project in Mason County, scheduled for operation in 2012. The contract is contingent on approval by state regulators and the project receiving special-use construction permit approval from Mason County. Meanwhile, another Michigan utility, Detroit Edison, says it plans to buy between 100MW and 200MW of turbines for one or more plants, most likely in Huron County.
