Manslaughter act 'will not save lives'

THE CONSTRUCTION union UCATT has warned that the new Corporate Manslaughter and Corporate Homicide Act, which came into force on April 6, will not save the life of a single construction worker. Under the new legislation, employers could face massive fines if it is proved they failed to take proper safety precautions. The old law was criticised for making it too difficult to bring prosecutions.
