Slips and trips were the single most common cause of injuries in UK workplaces in 2006. Eleven thousand major injuries were recorded, says Arco, and there were 30,000 injuries that resulted in an absence of three days of more. In many working environments, the right footwear can have a dramatic effect on helping to prevent slips and trips. But, according to the HSE, choosing the most suitable slip-resistant footwear for a particular environment or application can be problematic.
