To manufacture high-temperature resistant corrosion and wear resistant coatings surface welding was carried out using CO_2 laser beam. The filler metal used was sintering belt made from molybdenum-containing nickel-based alloys by powder metallurgy. The base metal was an S355J0 steel plate. It was possible to produce single layer protective coatings in a thickness up to 2 mm with dilution levels from 4 to 10% at high molybdenum contents. In comparison with a conventional reference material used in the plastics industry, the surface welds possessed a high resistance to corrosion and wear while, at the same time, having good heat resistance. In this way, evidence can be produced of the suitability of the process technology developed.
