The functional chemicals which take up only 25% of costs with reference to the analyzed paper grades, represent the share of additives which produce the new properties respectively improve the existing properties of the paper. In this context the sizing agents, hardening agents, colouring agents, brighteners and wet strength improving agents fulfil more than one task in many cases. Only the respective dryers and requirements are named and the cost shares analyzed. In not one single case the costs were more than 1.8% of the marketable value respectively 0.6% of the total amount of paper raw materials used. With reference to the marketable value of the paper the importance for the two recovered paper qualities corrugating stock and LWC-offset will show.
