Maryhill Plans

Plans have been put forward to build a world-class watersports venue adjacent to the Maryhill flight of locks on the Forth & Clyde Canal. The ￡6m scheme, which has been dubbed 'Urban Etive', envisages an adventure canoeing course to rival Glen Etive, which is considered to be the finest canoeing river in Scotland.rnThe plan is part of the Glasgow Canal Regeneration Partnership'srn20-year project to transform the Glasgow Branch of the canal between Port Dundas and Maryhill. Urban Etive would involve building a canoe course on the non towpath side of the canal, with steep drops around the locks. A new basin would be formed at the bottom of the flight, adjacent to the Kelvin Aqueduct.
