Professional artist Rob first came to the attention of WW in 2013, shortly after he completed a yearlong painting tour of the network on his liveaboard narrowboat. In that same year he became the Canal & River Trust's artist-in-residence, while a Crick Boat Show commission saw him carry out a fine oil painting of historic narrowboat President in steam at the quayside. A few months later his collection of inland waterway-themed paintings, called 'Year of the Boat', was exhibited in Manchester, and he has continued to make a name for himself, picking up numerous accolades and having his work displayed in galleries across the country. As well as being elected a full member of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters and the Manchester Academy of Fine Arts, for three years from 2016 he was International Artist-in-Residence for Manchester Airport - a role that involved flying out to such exotic destinations as Hong Kong, Beijing and Qatar to produce work for airport terminals. He has also had commissions and acquisitions from high-profile collectors including Prince Charles and the Duchess of Devonshire.
