ANCID CONFERENCE―THE NORTH: OPPORTUNITIES FOR THE FUTURE

The Australian Committee on Irrigation and Drainage (ANCID) has represented the irrigation industry for some 50 years. As its name implies, it originated in the 1960s as a group of State bureaucrats but is now run by and for the irrigators themselves. A family atmosphere was notable throughout the conference, commencing with the opening when, in the true style of the Northern Territory, the Chairman, Stephen Mills, appeared on stage wearing a lurid Bali shirt, shorts and thongs. (The four tie-wearers in the audience of 200+ were severely reprimanded).
