摘要

The recent long drought in Australia, combined with concerns about climate change, along with the introduction of the Murray-Darling Basin Plan, has highlighted the need to manage water resources more sustainably, especially in the Murrumbidgee River catchment, which utilises bulk water for food production, industry and urban water supplies. Improving real-time water management in the catchment is needed not only to enhance water use delivery management and efficiency, but also to increase the sustainability of irrigated agriculture and improved environmental watering accountability without impacting irrigation diversions. However, generating water efficiency benefits requires the complete understanding of all aspects of the water balance of the river basin at various spatio-temporal scales from dam storage to farm.
