Copenhagen's bathing anniversary

The public bath in Copenhagen harbour has proved a major success, and the original bath structure has been replaced with a new, permanent structure and the original one moved to a new location. Bathers would have been allowed to go swimming in diluted wastewater, if traditional monitoring had been the only method applied. Instead, Copenhagen harbour bathers are given warnings, and at no time are they allowed to enter the public bath until the water quality is considered acceptable. The model forecast can be completed within a very short time (under one to two hours in 2002, less in 2003) of the last discharge ending, and it is now possible to track water quality from hour to hour.
